A failure to advocate to minimize the harmful effects of illiteracy. How can we ever expect Civic responsibility if we don’t teach civics or advocacy?
Program Goal 1
There is a need to bring special awareness to improve program involvement by marketing another core initiative amongst youth, Detroit Public Schools and Charter Schools alike; whereby we must promote reading advocacy and support reading clubs, sponsor various events, and other promotions to make reading a popular choice “among youth” and “in the hood”; and a path of reward.
Program Goal 2
Civic and Social Responsibility can be boosted through another program called (VIABLE) Volunteers. Interns. Apprentice. Building. Leaders. Educators/Entrepreneurs……..planting community sites in neighborhoods offering various programs including but not limited to security patrols, senior citizen transportation, even grocery delivery to the elderly or sick and shut in (with adequate security precautions/measures in place). Sharing principles like service, honor, fellowship, sharing/charity, community and respect for life, love for fellow man and well being. Ultimately, this builds a community through Volunteering, Internships, Apprenticeships, Building, Leaders, Educators/Entrepreneurs does ensure to create public and private partnerships to reach the following goals.
§ Promote reading and literacy
§ Promote financial literacy
§ Financial literacy,
§ Literacy program/Reading program,
§ Educational lobby(ist)
§ Economic development,
§ Community reinvestment coalition
§ Community leadership program,
§ Community Civics Program,
§ Family assistance
Literacy And Reading Programs Advocacy
Youth reading and Senior reading programs promote Community, Respect, Pride And Patience, etc. Local Youth will learn to read to Seniors…..Seniors will read to Youth……citywide at up to 10 Senior Housing Facilities, Recreation Centers, Libraries, etc. until such time we have the main physical location for VIABLE. Having the youth and seniors learn things like computers together and/or have youth in turn teach Seniors how to use a computer, and even build it.
Financial Literacy
Additionally, a central focus upon financial literacy provided to local communities benefit more impoverished areas of any city. So, primarily we give back by offering a mix of civics (civic responsibility), citywide financial literacy, financial coaching and awareness workshops amongst youth ages 10 and up. Ultimately, goal is to boost and draw involvement of parents and adults. Today, teaching young people how to balance a checkbook, protect their credit and responsibilities of having credit and cards. This boosts economic growth by way of wiser, more productive citizens, consumers and entrepreneurs, wherein we all enjoy this advantage.
